REMY'S MUSIC & FILM
Tragic Milkshake is a thoroughly enjoyable contemporary electronic journey.
IRISH TIMES - JIM CARROLL
Games Violet are capable of creating some fascinating pop moments full of strong, haunting, imaginative electronic lines and shadows.
Combining creative rhythm patterns, choice keys, wailing guitars & whispering harmony duet-rounds; Games Violet are one of the most exciting Philly acts around.
The Third Ear
17th Century sounds like Prince on robot-ketamine. Courtship is the sound of a beautiful stranger running the tip of a knife lightly down the boniest bits of your spine: kinda sexy, a bit tickly and fucking scary...
...Gone is post-millennial nihilist pop par excellence – the musical equivalent of attempting to destroy a 3D-printed bust of Søren Kierkegaard with a hammer made from your own earwax.
ROCK ON PHILLY
With Nixie, Games Violet announce themselves as a unique force in electronic music.
Nixie is an elegant excursion into Games Violet's surrealist and experimental world, littered with imaginative ideas and unique sounds. Otherworldly and eerily atmospheric recent single Courtship demonstrates their raison d'etre, as it slips between beautiful and unsettlingly haunting. Nixie is a similarly haunting piece of gothic pop that traverses an ominous mix of downtempo textures and atmospherics to remain peaceful yet simultaneously chilling. Closer Gone, is a downright unsettling and spooky, groove-driven wonky-pop. One other constant throughout is Violet's ethereal vocals, which mesmerise and enchant in equal measure. Games Violet deliver more than their fair share of murky, chilling and foreboding qualities, but equally, there are utterly beautiful and spectacular moments too.
